Black Friday & Cyber Monday Finds 2022

Nothing brings me greater joy than a good deal, especially something I’ve had my eye on for a while. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are the ultimate tests of delayed gratification (cue the Stanford marshmallow experiment) - can I hold out for 11 entire months for something sweeter? As someone who adores summer and fall fashion, I wish that we had sales of this scale during other times of the year, but it would also take the excitement out of it.

To prevent overspending and to minimize environmental waste, I constantly remind myself not to buy things that I wouldn’t buy at full price to ensure I’m meeting a true need and not an impulsive want, just because it’s on sale.

Here are some of my nifty Black Friday/ Cyber Monday purchases and deals I’ve spotted, which includes tried and true investment items and essentials under $20. Hope this brings you and your loved ones great joy!

3 THINGS I PURCHASED DURING BLACK FRIDAY 2022

NYX A Bit Jelly Illuminator (Opalescent)

Life has a lot of sweet, simple joys: sriracha mayo, unlined paper, and glitter. I was in line for the washroom at a club in Hawaii and the girl in front of me had glitter on her cheekbones, so I complimented her on it (duh). Being the kind, sweet soul that she was (Hawaiian hospitality, I tell you), she said, “Do you want to use some? I have it in my purse with me.” I obviously said yes, applied some to my cheekbones, and it made my night. I love how it’s a gel so you don’t need to set it and can quickly apply it using your fingers! ($10.50, 30% off from $15)

As a self-proclaimed grandma, why was I at a club in Hawaii? That’s another story for another day…

Mejuri Pavé Diamond Cushion Ring

I’ve had my eye on this ring all year and waited ALL calendar year for Mejuri’s Black Friday sale as it was out of my budget at regular price ($300, 20% off from $375). If I found myself in Kitsilano for pilates, I would venture over to Mejuri just to try this on in-person and continue to fawn over it. The day has finally arrived and I have ordered it. I cannot wait to style you, my beautiful pavé!

No Crease/ Creaseless Hair Clips

No-crease/ creaseless hair clips are great for preventing hair from getting in my face while I do my skincare or read a very complicated client contract. These are an insane deal at $5.20 from $12.99 (60% off) and will make your morning + nighttime routines that much easier! If you’re bold enough (and I’m not), you can use them as an everyday accessory…

3 OF MY TRIED AND TRUE INVESTMENT ITEMS

2 of 3 items are used nearly daily and the third item helps me stay organized on trips. Here are some of my favourite investment items that you should seriously consider purchasing during Black Friday + Cyber Monday.

Sony WH-1000XM5 Noise Cancelling Headphones

20% price drop from $499 to $398 - also an insane deal. While I don’t have the M5s, I have the M3s, an earlier model from 2019. My M3s are three years old, starting to show signs of wear and tear from daily usage, and the noise cancelling isn’t as great as it used to be, but they still get the job done, so I can’t justify another purchase yet! If you don’t have a pair yet, I’d recommend the investment as noise cancelling headphones are worth the pretty penny, especially if you work in a noisy environment (or just want to appreciate layers of harmonies in your a cappella).

Logitech MX Vertical

Household/ staple/ classic Logitech peripherals very rarely go on sale. At 8% off ($119.98), this mouse isn’t a wild deal by any means, but if you have been meaning to buy this mouse to save your wrist from years of carpal tunnel, now is your chance. I’ve used the MX Vertical for 3+ years and it’s a work essential for me. I cannot go back to a traditional mouse now.

Packing Cubes

I raved about packing cubes in August and I’ll rave about them again: packing cubes create structure and prevent you from overpacking! I have these exact ones and they are a game changer. I love to group my clothes by activity: swimsuits, workout + PJs, footwear, casual clothes, special occasion. When you work with packing cubes, remember to ROLL your clothes, rather than fold them, so you can see what is what. From $29.49 to $24.49 (15% off) - not the greatest deal, but the benefits greatly outweigh the cost here considering all packing cubes hover at this price point now. I bought them in Hong Kong a few years ago and it came to $15 CAD (~$99 HKD), so if you happen to be in Asia, you can probably find them at a cheaper cost.

3 ESSENTIALS I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT ($20 & UNDER)

This is basically a sneak preview from my holiday gift guide, so please indulge. Ideally with some peppermint hot chocolate.

Conair Battery-Powered Clothing Defuzzer/ Fabric Shaver

You know me… this is on all of my lists. Some fabrics are already prone to pilling and with winter weather, we tend to layer up to stay cozy. Depending on the amount of friction, your favourite sweater may look disheveled after one wear - we don’t want that. I love my defuzzer (or fabric shaver, if we want to be technical here) and aim to defuzz my clothes once a month. I’ll throw on some 2000s R&B or a podcast, go through my closet to pull out pilly pieces (check friction points (i.e., armpits, side of waist, lower back, forearms, chest if you wear crossbody bags), and start defuzzing!

It’s also worth nothing that this defuzzer is not on sale for Black Friday/ Cyber Monday, but at $12.36, it’s so accessible at regular price and already cheaper than competitors that are on sale. A great stocking stuffer for anyone in your life.

High Fidelity Concert Earplugs

High-fid earplugs are perfect for spin, Barrys, concerts, and commutes with loud human beings. At $17.59 (35% off from $26.99), add these to your cart NOW. I wore these during my night out in Hawaii and I could still hear everything without any issues, which goes on to show how loud these environments can be!

Charging Cables in Various Lengths (3 ft, 6 ft, 10 ft)

I bought a 10 ft cable because one of my best friends would ask for an iPhone charger every time she came over, while chilling on the couch. Instead of giving her a portable charger every time, she can now remain horizontal on the couch, extend her arm ever so lightly, and plug in her phone. Life enhanced. I opted for pink but if you prefer not to stray too far from the beaten path, here’s a set of white cables.

That’s all for now! I’d love to hear about your Black Friday and Cyber Monday finds as well so don’t hesitate to DM me!

With love,
Doro
