Doro Sips: Coffee Oysters Champagne

I found myself in Toronto in mid-October of last year for a work trip and after 3 days where I could not tell you where my workday ended and sleep started, we completed our client strategy workshop. It was a roaring success. Naturally, I took myself out to celebrate at 9pm and after a bit of wandering and meandering around Nathan Phillips Square and down King, found myself at Coffee Oysters Champagne, in Downtown Toronto, located at 214 King St W.

I am not an avid drinker but I can never turn down a glass of bubbly - mainly because I love what it represents: joy, celebration, and togetherness.

Enough said.

Coffee Oysters Champagne’s beautiful interior.

Everyone talks about the champagne tour at Coffee Oysters Champagne, but the cheerful pink front space simply does not get enough love from patrons. Grab a seat at the bar and soak in the environment because I had the most amazing time as a party of one. I popped in for a celebratory drink flight and ordered the OLD WORLD CHARM sparkling flight ($32), consisting of the following:

  • Mionetto ‘Prestige’ Prosecco Brut VENETO, ITALY NV

  • Segura Viudas Cava Brut PENEDÈS, SPAIN NV

  • Piper Heidsieck Brut CHAMPAGNE, FRANCE NV

Look at all this bubbly…

My stunning OLD WORLD CHARM flight of bubbles!

As a west coaster who loves raw oysters, I wanted to try an east coast oyster but they were only available by the 1/2 dozen. The staff were so kind as to give me an oyster to try on the house when I asked for a single oyster (honestly, who has such restraint anyway?). Their hospitality was out of this world and I wish I’d had a chance to go back to check out their coffee program before I flew back to Vancouver.

I ended up going on a champagne tour after I finished my many sips (and single shuck), but found the speakeasy (À Toi) too dark and moody for my liking that night. It gives serious date vibes (not first date vibes either) and as I was on my own, I walked through the space and called it a night! On my way back to my hotel, I decided that I needed a burger and found myself at The Burger’s Priest for The Priest (cheeseburger + the option [panko crusted mushroom cap stuffed with cheese]). Drunchies were thoroughly enjoyed.

A delightful single oyster.

Look at that cheese and portobello mushroom… “the option” is one of my favourite things from The Burger’s Priest.

Highly recommend visiting Champagne Oysters Coffee - either as a solo sipper, with girlfriends, or on a hot date (just not your first date).

With love,
Doro
